Wake Up, It’s the First of the Month!

The first of the month hits, and suddenly everyone thinks they’re about to become a new person. Realistically though, nothing has changed. The laundry is still there. The emails are still unanswered. The half-finished project is still sitting exactly where you left it.

And that’s fine.

You’re not behind. You’re not failing. You’re just… continuing.

But here’s the funny part: a new month still makes everything feel possible again.

So if your brain is suddenly like:

“Maybe I’ll finally finish that book.”
“Maybe I’ll pick up the guitar again.”
“Maybe I’ll return to that painting, sewing project, screenplay, playlist, or idea I abandoned halfway through an existential crisis.”

Yeah. Do it.

Not perfectly. Not dramatically. Just… start.

Things You Can Actually Pick Back Up This Month

No pressure. Just options:

  • That hobby you dropped because you weren’t instantly good at it (normal).
  • The book that’s been acting as a decorative object.
  • The half-finished project you pretend doesn’t exist.
  • The recipe you saved and forgot about.
  • The language app you opened twice and then emotionally ghosted.

You don’t need a “new version” of yourself to restart any of these.

You just need 10 minutes and a little willingness to be bad at it again.

Or Try Something New (Low Stakes Only)

If you’ve been wanting to try something, keep it light:

📸 Take random photos of your day
🌱 Try keeping one plant alive (just one)
🎨 Draw or paint something ugly on purpose
🧶 Learn something hands-on and messy
✍️ Write anything (no audience, no pressure) literally
🎸 Play the guitar badly on purpose
🧩 Do something that doesn’t need to “lead” anywhere
🌙 Stare at the sky for a bit longer than usual
🍞 Cook something without trying to optimize it
🎞️ Watch something just to feel something

Real Talk

You don’t need a glow-up.

You don’t need a reinvention arc.

You don’t need to “become disciplined” overnight.

You just need to start badly and keep going a little longer than last time.

That’s literally it.

Final Thing

The first of the month isn’t magic. It’s just a random checkpoint your brain decided to romanticize. But if it gives you even a tiny push to reopen something you dropped or try something you’ve been avoiding?

Take it. And if not? That’s fine too. You’re still good.

Either way: You’re gonna be alright, twin.
